Gay Men and Immediate Coping Tips for a Breakup
I’ve spent more than 30 years helping gay men navigate breakups, divorces, and relationship endings—not just as a psychotherapist and sex therapist, but as someone
Specializing in coaching and therapy for gay men navigating midlife, relationships, identity, aging, and second-act life transitions.
Many gay men reach a point where life looks successful on the outside — yet something feels stalled, uncertain, or quietly unsatisfying.
I help gay men gain clarity, rebuild confidence, and move forward in their relationships, careers, and personal lives through experienced therapy and coaching designed specifically for gay men.
Coaching for relationships, identity, success, and life transitions.
Ken Howard, LCSW, CST
Gay men and gay male couples/polycules hire me to help them make important, lasting changes for the better in their lives, such as in their relationships, careers, health, sex life, finances, social life, or overall well-being, when you need an experienced and trusted long-time expert who “gets you” as a gay man.
Many men contact me at exactly this stage — when things aren’t falling apart, but they know something needs to change.
You don’t have to wait until things get worse to start improving your life.

• Success hasn’t brought the satisfaction you expected
• You’re facing a major life transition
• Motivation or confidence has slipped
• You’re asking yourself what comes next as a gay man
You don’t have to figure this out alone.

I have more experience providing coaching as a specialist in gay male individuals, couples, and polycules than anyone else currently in the United States, with over 31 years of experience. I can help you get relief from the life challenges, stressors, obstacles, and setbacks you face now. Specialities include helping gay men’s well-being in their job, long-term career plan, financial stability, dating and relationship skills, sexual confidence, coping with life stage challenges, healthy self-care, social life with gay male peers, and all interpersonal relationships (family, spouse/partner, friends, colleagues).
An LGBT-affirmative coach, and more specifically, a gay men’s specialist coach, is equipped to help you in ways that are deeper, more nuanced, and ultimately more effective than even the most well-meaning straight-identified provider can.
There are cultural issues, socio-political dynamics, historical contexts, men’s psychology considerations, terminology, academic knowledge, community insights, current events, and other details of “cultural competency” to work specifically with gay men that I offer, that only decades of clinical social work experience, writing, research, and personal perspective living as and among the LGBT community can provide.
